Elizalde Tigre IV Engine

The Elizalde Tigre IV is a 125hp inverted, four-cylinder air-cooled engine. The Elizalde Aviation Engine Factory began designing this engine, also known as the ENMA Tigre IV, at their facility in Barcelona, Spain shortly after the Spanish Civil War. Production began in 1943, and while the Tigre did not feature in many aircraft types, it is best known as the powerplant for the CASA 1.131, a Spanish-built variant of Germany’s Bücker Bu 131 Jungmann biplane trainer. The Jungmann served with the Luftwaffe between 1935 and the end of WWII, while the Spanish Air Force flew their examples until circa 1968.

The Museum’s Tigre IV engine has not been run, nor overhauled. It has been stored indoors during its time with the Museum and is in overall good condition, with no exterior damage. There are no log books attached to the engine, but it does include a wheeled display stand.
