Former Museum Director

Mike Potter

A Virginia native, Mike Potter graduated in 1973 from George Mason University. His career spans four decades as a banker, tradeassociation execu tive, and consultant. Mike’s passion has always been World War Two history and aviation, and he has been an active pilot and “warbird” enthusiast for more than four decades. He and his wife, Marie, moved to Virginia Beach in 2009, and Mike managed to accumulate 2,500 hours as a museum volunteer on weekends over the next five years.

When the museum needed a new Director, Mike left his career to helm the museum for several years to focus on the Education Outreach and the “Guest Experience” with the volunteer organization. He is convinced that the Military Aviation Museum has the potential to be one of the nation’s leading museums, and he looks forward to working with the board to facilitate that mission.
