W. Thomas Owen

A native of Virginia, Tom Owen attended Virginia Tech, majoring in Business Administration, with a minor in Modern Europe an History. Tom’s travel industry career began while in college and continued for 35 years, managing travel agencies, airline district sales offices and eventually airline regional sales areas.

Tom started volunteering with the Civil Air Patrol and has also volunteered his time with the Confederate Air Force, the At lanta/Brazil Sister Cities Program and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics Travel Advisory Committee.

He began volunteering at the Military Aviation Museum in January of 2009 and is the most senior volunteer there with over 10,000 hours. Tom was named Volunteer of the Year for all of Hampton Roads two years ago. His wife, Linda, not only en courages his participation in the museum, but has joined him as a volunteer with over 1,500 hours of service.
