Warbirds Over the Beach 2024

It has been a busy year here at the Museum with an intensive schedule of maintenance for the aircraft in our collection. This work, aimed at keeping the airplanes in tip-top condition consistent with their status as historical artifacts, has caused a reduction in scheduled flying activities. We appreciate everyone’s patience with this process and are looking forward to a great schedule of events in 2024.

The scheduled dates for major flying activities in 2024 are:

• The Flying Proms Symphonic Airshow: June 15, 2024.
• Summer of Flight: Begins May 4th, 2024.
• Warbirds Over the Beach: October 5 & 6, 2024.

These dates will be making their way onto the website in the coming days, with more announcements to follow about special aircraft participating at the events. We are also looking at the touring schedule for our aircraft, so there may be a chance to see them before our own events in a town near you!

We appreciate all those of you who have continued to express an interest in the shows and events, and we look forward to hosting you at the Virginia Beach Airport again soon. To our international visitors, we understand that travel lead-times are really important, so we also want to provide the anticipated 2025 dates for both shows.

What Does this Mean for 2023?

In careful consultation with our maintenance team and our pilots, we have had to make the difficult decision not to hold Warbirds Over the Beach in 2023. With several of our key airplanes needing just a little longer in maintenance (owing to complex component overhaul timelines) we simply didn’t feel we could deliver the complete experience prior attendees would have been familiar with this year.
